He’s arrived! Audrey II is here, ready to take over the world, starting with the Dighton High Theatre! As I explained in a previous post, the rental for the set of Audrey II puppets can cost anywhere between $1,500 and $5,000. Add in the mileage cost, approximately fifty cents a mile, from places like California, Minnesota, and New York, and you are looking at an impossible for a small, high school theatre.
Enter Depot Theater Company in Dodge City, Kansas. Several years ago, they performed Little Shop of Horrors and created the four puppets that make up the Audrey II set. After renting them out a couple of times, the Audrey II set found a home in a storage unit in Dodge City. When Mr. Johnson called the theatre, they were thrilled to hear Audrey II would again see a stage! The Dighton High Theatre department purchased all four Audrey II puppets for a mere $100.
After our show in November, we will be making Audrey II available for rental. If you know of a school interested in performing Little Shop of Horrors, have them contact Dighton High School and ask for Mrs. Wyatt or Mr. Johnson. We look forward to making the dreams of another small theatre come true!
A big thanks to the Depot Theatre Company for their support of Dighton High School! We could not perform Little Shop of Horrors without you! Another big thanks to Mr. Johnson, Mr. Colson, and the boys for picking up Audrey II in Dodge City today. They received lots of funny looks, and some questions at DQ, about their cargo, but were able to laugh off the stares and enjoy the moment!
Enjoy the photos of the plants arrival at his new home!
